What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think the teacher has good intentions and is really trying his best to pick up the student's spirits, but it's not going to work through one website post. It has been drilled into my mind that I need to do amazing things while I'm in high school. Yes, I understand that the main event of coming to school is to learn and become educated about certain topics, but all of that is overshadowed by making sure you have extracurricular activities and a well-managed social life.

3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go.

On Saturday night, I babysat my next-door neighbors from 6:00 to 9:00. I didn't have much of a dinner before that considering that I woke up at noon and everything. But when I was finished babysitting, I was really hungry and we don't go to the store until Sunday. I called all of my friends with a car and asked if they would drive us to eat if I paid. But everyone was busy at Prom or going to bed already. The last friend I called, Kennedy, had already gotten ready for bed, but she came over anyways and drove us to McDonald's. I kept telling her how grateful I was for her and she just kept laughing. We went to CVS Pharmacy because she needed new facial moisturizer. So it wasn't really an eventful, but it was so much fun for me.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement. Elaborate on why you agree of disagree.

If images are on the internet they should be "free game".

I think it depends on the circumstances. If a photographer uploaded a picture of their latest photo shoot and I copied the pictures and put them on my website, all while not claiming that I took these pictures myself, it would be fine. As long as you're giving credit to the person who owns this image, I think all pictures on the internet are free game.

Reflect on your resume website.

I wish I could have spent more time exploring the ranges of Photoshop. The program was new to me so I didn't want to go straight into everything at once. Now that I've eased into things I feel more comfortable with trying new effects. I wish I could have changed my color scheme up because I realize now that it resembles my Fanclub website. I'm going to try to make the main color of my website not purple next time. I really would have liked to know to change the color and font on my Google information fill-out sheet.

What's the coolest thing you've learned in Web Design so far? Why is it so cool and how can it help you in the future?

I liked learning how to use Photoshop properly. I didn't know where to begin and it was fulfilling to be able to bevel and emboss my text. It gives the words depth and a more 3D look.

Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design? Explain yourself.

User Experience, also known as UX, involves a person's reactions and emotions felt about using a certain product, company or service. It includes how user-friendly a website is for a visitor. User Experience is normally used when someone is talking about using a computer for the first time and how it felt for them. Web design can be related to User Experience by seeing how people react to your website the first time they visit it.

What is a resume website? What do people put on resume websites? Spend about 5-10 minutes looking up resume websites and what they are used for. Explain what you find. Include an image of a resume website if possible.

A resume website displays the certain skill level or knowledge a person pertains in a subject. It can showcase about their career, accomplishments in their field and where they acquired their intelligence like a university or college. Some resume websites may include the person's social media profiles so a client can get a better feel for them before they hire them. Depending what field they specialize in, they may have some examples of what they can do or like to do when they are working on a project. For example, an interior designer may show her latest designs corresponding with the latest trends in home furniture.

What are you doing for Spring Break?

For the first five days of spring break, I'm going to be in Cozumel, Mexico! We're renting a house with two other families and I'm so excited to go. We get back on St. Patrick's Day and our family friends from Texas are going to visit us for the remainder of spring break. I haven't seen them since the beginning of the school year because they live in Austin, Texas. I'm going to be doing some homework assignments too, but I'm not focusing on that right now.

Who do you look up to in your life? Why do you look up to them? Tell me about them and some of their characteristics that you admire.

I guarantee that anyone who is about to read this is going to think that I'm very stupid. But I look up to Nicki Minaj. Everyone sees her as this inappropriate, provocative woman who sounds like she doesn't have a single clue about what she's talking about. Nicki is a big supporter of feminism and makes sure her music represents that. Critics throw everything against her, saying that her music is too sexual for a woman. But men say the exact same things in their work toward women. She's creating this new world for women where we can say and feel however we want without men telling us that we're too pure or innocent to let those words slip past our lips. Nicki still believes in making sure that women remain educated and not to let stereotypes stop them from going to medical or law school because that's a male-dominated work area. Nicki Minaj deserves so much more credit than she receives.

This weekend my volleyball team got first place in our tournament! We were so excited to win the championship game, especially after the referees made some bad calls on our team. I know we deserved the win and it was worth being in that gym for twelve, straight hours.

If you were the Principal for a week at BVHS, what would that look like? What changes would you make? Why?

I would be playing some really bomb music during passing period that isn't from twenty years ago, get Papa John’s instead of Pizza Hut pizza to serve at our school, and install more outlets for kids to charge their phones from. I know these are all things I want to happen to the school so I'm sure other kids in the school are wanting the same things as me. I would probably need to make some adult decisions too so I would try to introduce new teaching ways to the staff.

This weekend will was probably one of the busiest ones I'll have this year. On Friday, my dad had his last day of work. He had worked at 41 Action News for eighteen years and had to miss important events in our family for his job. We're glad we'll be able to see more of him now. On Saturday morning I went to the World War One museum with my two friends, Brooke and Karen. We took some really cool pictures from the roof of the museum and walked to Crown Center once we had went through the entire place. I went to a birthday party on Saturday night and went night sledding. I accidentally fell into a ditch; luckily I didn't hurt myself. My weekend was pretty eventful and it's one I won't forget for a while.

My Friday night was probably the best time I've experienced in a long time. I went to Jose Peppers with Charlotte, Brooke, Jillian, and Mallory. At one point the waiter was recommending the fajitas, but I told him I don't like fajitas. For some reason, Charlotte found this hilarious and spit her mouthful of water across the table at Brooke. We were in stitches for a couple minutes after that! My Saturday was nothing compared to Friday night. I had to babysit a bunch of kids for my neighbor's work party and it was funny to see all these kid's antics.

Since I plan on being a psychologist when I'm out of college, I should probably being taking classes that specialize in human interactions, reading body language, and perfecting techniques that help people be able to trust me. I wouldn't need to take any math classes and I might need some science classes since some mental disorders can by caused by chemicals in the brain. Anatomy and Physiology and Chemistry could be possible courses for me in college. I'll be needing to take Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics. When I'm in college, I can focus on taking courses that are important to my career choice and not worry about classes that don't apply to my major.

Color can convey a lot of emotion when it comes to designing anything from a product to a website to an advertisement to a logo and so much more. What do you think the importance of colors on a website are? What is a color scheme and why is it important to have when designing? Explain any thoughts you might have around color in design.

You need a color that describes the mood of the website. If you're building a website for a massage company, you're going to want soothing colors like baby blue and light yellows. If you're building a website for a circus, you want loud and bold colors that make your eyes flit across the page like bright reds and royal blues. Color scheme is where you're using a theme a colors that flow well together. They're important because you don't want your audience to think that your business is worthless because you can't even fit good colors together.

Think about the quote above. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work (especially Web Design!)?  I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

I'm not very good at analyzing quotes, but I'm gonna say this quote is about creating a new mind space that is specified for your work. This mind space is full of focus and determination and making you aware of what needs to be done. Sometimes it's harder for me to find that mind space, but I really want to make it accessible. to myself. It's always been super hard to focus on something that I need to get done so I would like to find a way that works for me.

My weekend wasn't very eventful. On Friday, Kennedy, Brooke, and I went to the varsity basketball on Friday. Our seats were stolen by a rude group of people, who even after we asked them to give us our seats back said no, so we sat all the way up at the top with some of Kennedy's friends that Brooke and I didn't know. I also got Netflix this weekend so I watched a lot of Friends episodes. On Sunday, my grandparents drove to our house from Belton, Missouri, and spent a couple hours with us. Finally on Sunday, I just relaxed and watched everyone live-tweet the Grammy's.

What's the coolest thing you've learned in this class so far this year? Now that you have a little knowledge, what do you want to learn that you don't know how to do yet?

I really liked learning how to make our links a different color other than purple and apply different fonts to them. I want to learn how to put a video on my website and have it play without leaving the page. I don't have that much knowledge on websites, but maybe I could figure out how to make my pictures change on one page per five seconds like a slideshow.

Tell me all about your Sweetheart weekend (even if you sat at home on the couch!). Include photos!

This weekend I had a volleyball tournament in St. Joesph. We were at the university from seven-thirty in the morning to seven o'clock at night. My team ended up getting third place out of nine teams and I was proud of our playing that day. But when we were about to leave, it started to snow and the road were really dangerous to drive on; we even saw a couple cars that went off the highway on our way home! We didn't make it home until eight-thirty that night.

What is a website wireframe? Explain. If you don't know what it is, look it up. Find an image online to place on your blog that represents a website wireframe and how they work.

A website wireframe is basically the outline of a website; it sets up the structure of where things will go on your website. You can control where you place pictures, videos and text on your website. Unfortunately, wireframes lack color, style, and graphics so you wouldn't be able to add those to your blog using a website wireframe.

Finish this sentence "10 years from now I will be...."

10 years from now I will be living in my own apartment or shared apartment with my best friend; either one of those options work for me. Hopefully I'll be saving money for my own practice for a psychology business, owned by yours truly. Maybe I'll have a significant other, but I really can't predict how well and how long someone will be able to tolerate me when I'm older. Hopefully I'll grow out of this 'too awkward to perform some daily activities' phase by then.

This weekend was pretty fun for me. On Friday, I went to Petland with two of my friends because we all needed some puppy therapy. The beagle shown above was very calm and cuddly, but the golden retriever we played with afterwards was crazy and escaped our pen.
Once we were finished with playing puppies, we drove to Winsteads and shared a chocolate skyscraper after dinner. The next day I had a volleyball tournament in Topeka. This was our first tournament together as a team and we placed fourth out of the twelve teams that were there. I was really proud of how I played on Saturday.

Kids don't like talking to me. I miss having interactions with someone who knows what's going on in the world right now, entertainment wise. I need someone to update when Liam Neeson comes out with a new movie! I wish I could pull off their crazy hair colors like rainbow or more rainbow. But sometimes the hair colors hurt my almost-blind eyes.

What do you find the most confusing and frustrating part of web design and HTML code so far? What would make it easier? What don't you understand? What do you understand? Explain yourself.

Sometimes I don't understand the wording of an instruction on Codecademy and I need someone else to rephrase it for me. I have some trouble with clickable photos, but hopefully it'll become easier for me as time goes on. I think we need more visual learning in this classroom. Most of it is just listening to a teacher blurt out instructions at a fast pace that I can't keep up with sometimes. I understand how to change my fonts, font sizes, and font colors. I caught onto those pretty quickly.

I had a very busy weekend that included my friends and family. On Friday night, I went to the boy's varsity basketball game with my friend Kennedy and we accidentally got lost driving home. Luckily, there was a small church with a parking lot and we pulled in before turning around and heading back home. On Saturday, I hung around my house until it was 4 o'clock and then I started getting ready for dinner with my friends, Brooke and Charlotte. It was my first time eating at Spin and I absolutely love it there now! On Sunday I lounged around and worked on homework. On MLK Jr. Day, I went to my sister's volleyball tournament at Bartle Hall.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your life here at BVHS. What activities or clubs are you involved in? What year are you in school? What is your favorite class and/or teacher so far this year? What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can.

My name is Sydney Neal and BVHS is a cool place. Obviously, there are changes I would love to make but I'm not in control of those decisions. This year I managed the sophomore volleyball team during the fall and now my club season has started up. I have a really close-knit family and I'm so happy to have them in my life. I was going to add a picture of my sister in here, but I don't think she would be happy with one I chose. I'm in tenth grade and colleges have already started emailing me; it feels scary and groundbreaking. I really like my personal finance teacher, Mr. Williams. He's really sarcastic and won't sugarcoat things like other teachers do. I'm really excited to start getting into my college decisions and applying for scholarships. Also, I wanted to add in that today is my half birthday! Only six months until I turn sixteen!

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

I think this class will be fairly easy if you keep up with your work and make sure you're being very detail-orientated. I've learned how to link my classmate's blogs to my home screen and how to put a link on a picture. I would like to see if it's possible to link a video on our blogs. I'm not sure if that will be an assignment of ours in the future, but I think it would be a helpful and informative lesson if we had time for it.

I had a very eventful weekend that included basketball games, friends, and birthdays. On Friday night, I went to the varsity basketball game with three friends and was happy with our win. On Saturday, I ended up going to see Night at the Museum 3 with my mom, my sister and her friend, and my friend. On Sunday, I celebrated my friend's twenty-second birthday throughout the entire day. His birthday isn't until today, but since he was going back to work today we celebrated yesterday. I gave him a scrapbook of our childhood memories.

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I disagree with his statement. We are teenagers, not adults with a regular income. Everyone always says to keep your childhood as long as possible yet the same people teach teenagers how to grow up. We're walking contradictions. I want to spend my teenage years having fun with my friends and creating memories, not focusing one-hundred percent on school and becoming an introvert. He's right about one part and it's that our parents don't owe us fun and that's because we can do that part on our own. We are capable of accomplishing things that the last generation couldn't think of doing and we're not changing it now because someone said no.
